Adjoining the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Deception Valley Lodge offers a unique bush experience in one of Africa's most remote semi-desert areas. The Lodge itself adopts the colours and ambience of the Kalahari, whilst providing top class luxury and service.

6 of the 8 units consist of luxury twin bedded rooms with en-suite Victorian style bathroom, an outside shower and a private spacious lounge. There are also 2 inter leading rooms. The units are also equipped with a hairdryer, and shaving plugs, and are all fitted with ceiling fans and mosquito nets.  A private mini-bar is also provided. Each unit stands separately on stilts and is connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways.

The main area boasts a dining room, lounge and bar, with décor reflecting the warm Kalahari colours, and making use of San (Bushmen) artefacts. From the deck guests can enjoy watching the wildlife activities at a nearby water hole. A curio shop and small library forms part of the complex.  Guests can also make use of the inviting swimming pool situated close to the main complex. As an alternative venue for dinner, there is a boma, which allows guests to dine under the African sky – and the Kalahari is surely one of the best places to enjoy star-gazing.

The Lodge offers a number of activities, including morning and afternoon game drives, where guests can explore the area and enjoy some excellent game viewing – with possible sightings of lion, cheetah, giraffe, kudu, and brown hyena. There are also night drives which allow for a glimpse into a new realm – as there a surprising number of active species. Bird watching is also excellent, with over 200 species being identified in the area – there are hides at neighbouring water holes. A high light is a walk with a San guide, which allows guests to learn about the culture, survival and hunting skills of these hunter-gatherers.

This guided walk with the San takes about 3 hours. The guests will be able to interact with the San and experience, taste and feel how these wonderful peoples of the African continent used to live, and adapted to this arid land.

All activities are included in the tariff, where possible all activities are arranged according to guest preference and time.

Private charter flights can take guests directly from the Okavango Delta or Maun to Deception Valley Lodge.
